SECURITY & PRIVACY
Honest by design, not surveillance.
Kidosk works with your Mac’s standard child account — and tells you the truth about what software can and can’t do.
Honest about limits
No software is truly tamper-proof. Instead of pretending otherwise, we tell you plainly what Kidosk does today and what it doesn’t: right now it’s a launcher on a standard child account, and it doesn’t yet block other apps or browsers. We plan to add alerts for workaround attempts so you can have the conversation that matters.
No covert monitoring, ever
No keystroke logging, no message reading, no hidden screen capture, no location tracking. Kidosk is a permission system your child can see and understand.
Data minimization by default
We collect the minimum needed to run your family’s policies. No third-party trackers or analytics SDKs in child-facing apps — or on this website.

Frequently asked questions
What is Kidosk, exactly?
Kidosk is a parent-managed launcher for your child’s Mac. You choose the apps and websites that appear in your child’s launcher — a friendly full-screen home screen that shows what you’ve approved.
Which devices does Kidosk support today?
Kidosk starts on macOS, in early access with a small group of homeschool families. The parent web portal is in development, followed by iPad, iPhone, and Apple TV experiences — request early access and we’ll let you know as each one ships.
Can my child get around Kidosk?
Kidosk runs on a standard (non-admin) child account that you set up on your Mac, so your child can’t make system-wide changes like installing into Applications or changing System Settings. Kidosk itself is a launcher: it puts your approved apps and websites front and center, but today it doesn’t yet stop a child from switching to other apps or opening other browsers, so it works best for younger kids with a parent nearby. No software is truly tamper-proof, and stronger system-level protections for macOS are planned; we’ll always tell you plainly what each one does and doesn’t cover.
Does Kidosk spy on my child?
No. Kidosk is a permission system, not surveillance software. There is no covert monitoring — no keystroke logging, no message reading, no hidden screen capture, no location tracking. Any activity shown to parents will be minimal — app and website names and durations, never content.
What about my child’s privacy?
Data minimization is a core requirement. We don’t harvest browsing history, we don’t embed third-party trackers or analytics SDKs in child-facing apps, and this website uses zero analytics or trackers.
Can I set schedules, like school hours?
Yes. In the launcher, tiles can appear, lock, or unlock on daily and weekly schedules — for example, School apps from 8am to 1pm on weekdays. Time-boxed free-time sessions you can grant from the parent portal are coming soon.
What happens when the internet goes out?
Kidosk is designed to keep working offline: the last-known policy stays in place in the launcher and schedules keep working locally, so losing the network doesn’t mean losing the rules.
How much does Kidosk cost?
Planned pricing: Starter is $6.99/month (1 child, 5 devices), Family is $12.99/month (5 children, 15 devices), and Premier is $19.99/month (10 children, 30 devices), billed annually. Early-access families aren’t charged today and help shape what ships.
